Mississauga exploring zoning changes to build homes on smaller lots amid housing demand

Mississauga is considering changes to its zoning laws to allow more semi-detached and detached homes on smaller lots, addressing the city's housing shortage. Proposed updates include permitting semi-detached homes in areas zoned for detached homes, adjusting lot requirements, and simplifying zoning regulations. Community feedback will be gathered through three virtual meetings scheduled for November. This initiative is part of the Increasing Housing Choices in Neighbourhoods (IHCN) program, which aims to enhance housing options and support middle-income earners.
